Samaritan Hospital Foundation Hosts Summer Splash Event for Individuals With Special Needs in Our Community
On Saturday, August 3, from 5-9 PM, Ashland County individuals with special needs and disabilities and their families were invited to the Ashland County Fairgrounds for an evening of all-inclusive fun! The Summer Splash event, organized and funded by Samaritan Hospital Foundation, included a variety of activities and food throughout the evening. Individuals with special needs and their families enjoyed tethered hot air balloon rides, a petting zoo, motorcycle rides, fire trucks from the Ashland Fire Department, nail painting, a catered meal and live music!
According to Jeanie Simon, Support Manager for Innovative Support Services, “This event was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our individuals. As a provider agency for individuals with developmental disabilities, I cannot express the gratitude that we feel for Samaritan Hospital Foundation and all the other organizations that assisted with making this event possible! The smiles and excitement that we witnessed that day were phenomenal!”

- 2 hot air balloon teams offered tethered rides
- Anna & Elsa from A Royal Princess Party entertained guests
- 2 balloon artists created magical balloon creations
- Whit's Frozen Custard served up yummy treats
- Dine & Dash Catering provided a delicious meal
- Petting zoo featured a variety of cute and cuddly animals
- Adaptive bicycles allowed for fun rides for everyone
- Ashland Fire Department showed up with fire trucks and hose demos
- Live music performed by Rare Vintage
- Nail painting station added some color
Christina Teevan, Executive Director of Ashland Special Needs Ministry, added, “The Samaritan Hospital Foundation brought joy to our friends and the community during the Summer Splash Event at the fairgrounds. This event designed to encourage, serve, and allow our friends with special needs to go on hot air balloon rides, ride motorcycles, eat yummy food and socialize all night was a beautiful night of laughter, excitement, huge smiles, and new adventures. Ashland Special Needs Ministry cannot thank the Samaritan Hospital Foundation enough for loving our friends and giving them a summer night to remember! ❤️”
